Material Specifications

We understand that you want to know exactly which materials we use for our products and whether they are safe for use by your children. All our products comply with the applicable rules and standards within Europe:

  • European Framework Regulation (EC) No. 1935/2004: This is the basic legislation requiring materials to be designed so that they do not release harmful substances into food.
  • LFGB (German legislation): These are German guidelines that are considered among the strictest in Europe. Products that comply with this standard are extensively laboratory tested for the migration of heavy metals and other substances, to ensure safety during everyday use.

Below you will find an overview of the materials used in our products and their properties.

Stainless Steel (304 / 18/8)

Our stainless-steel drinking bottles, lunch boxes and food jars are made from Type 304 stainless steel, also known as 18/8 stainless steel.

304 stainless steel is a widely used type of stainless steel consisting mainly of iron, chromium and nickel. The designation 18/8 refers to approximately 18% chromium and 8% nickel in its composition.

This type of stainless steel has several properties that make it highly suitable for use with food and drinks:

  • Durable: 304 stainless steel is strong and designed to withstand everyday use.
  • Corrosion-resistant: the material is highly resistant to rust and corrosion.
  • Suitable for food contact: 304 stainless steel is widely used in products and equipment that come into contact with food and drinks.
  • Neutral material: stainless steel does not absorb odours or flavours from food and drinks.
  • Easy to clean: its smooth surface is easy to clean.

Polypropylene (PP)

Polypropylene, abbreviated as PP, is widely used for the harder components of our products, such as drinking bottle caps and our bento boxes.

PP is a lightweight and strong plastic with properties that make it suitable for everyday use with food and drinks:

  • Lightweight and strong: PP is sturdy but relatively light, making it convenient for products that are frequently carried around.
  • Durable: the material withstands everyday use well and is less prone to breaking than some other plastics.
  • Suitable for food contact: PP is widely used for packaging, food storage containers and other products that come into contact with food and drinks.
  • Recyclable: PP is identified by plastic code 5 and can be recycled, depending on local waste management systems.

Tritan (Copolyester)

For our transparent drinking bottles, we use Tritan, a transparent copolyester specifically developed for products intended for everyday use.

Tritan has several advantages:

  • Clear and transparent: Tritan remains clear for a long time and retains its transparent appearance under normal use.
  • Strong and durable: the material is sturdy and designed to withstand everyday use.
  • Lightweight: Tritan is lighter than glass, making it practical for drinking bottles that are frequently carried around.
  • Suitable for food contact: Tritan is widely used in products that come into contact with food and drinks.
  • BPA-free: Tritan is produced without BPA (bisphenol A).
  • Low odour and flavour absorption: the material is relatively neutral and therefore does not easily affect the taste of drinks.

Silicone (Food-Grade)

Silicone is used for flexible components, such as sealing rings and valves in bottle caps and lunch boxes.

Silicone has properties that make it suitable for these applications:

  • Flexible: silicone is soft and elastic, making it well suited for seals and valves.
  • Shape-retaining: the material can largely return to its original shape after being pressed or deformed.
  • Temperature-resistant: silicone generally withstands both low and higher temperatures well.
  • Suitable for food contact: food-grade silicone is intended for applications where contact with food and drinks occurs.
  • Neutral material: silicone absorbs little odour or flavour and generally does not easily transfer these to food or drinks.
